SEP	1954 -- In its fourth issue since its debut, a new national magazine, Sports Illustrated, profiles the battle for the U.S. Amateur and Palmer, the unlikely victor, “a tanned, muscular young salesman who literally grew up on a golf course.”

SEP	1956 -- Palmer’s 67-68-68-69 earns him second place and $2,000 in the Rubber City Open at Akron’s Firestone Golf & Country Club.
SEP	Palmer 2nd at '56 Rubber City Open (USE THIS)

SEP	1958 -- Favored to win, Palmer shoots 65-69-68-66 at the Utah Open Invitational in Salt Lake City to come in second and earn $1,350.
SEP	1958 -- Palmer ties for third at the Denver Centennial Open at Wellshire Golf Club; earns $1,300.
